After years spent honing a realistic portrait style in my digital illustrative work, I’ve recently returned to both physical oil painting and dealing in less realistic subject matter, stripping away defining features and cultural artifacts to create a mythic dream world. The large figures featured in my paintings can be seen as simply monolithic or as the embodiments of our future selves looking back at us, their simplified features conveying how time sands away our rough edges, both challenging and strengthening us, ultimately inspiring us in our journey down the river of humanity towards horizons pointing beyond our imagination.
